  • Another pad storage question..

I've started using my g-100 more to apply LSP (usually NXT or #21) I find it easy to clean products like #83 and #205 from the pads, but not the waxes. I'm storing the pads in open ziploc bags in a tool cabinet. Is it ok to leave the pads with the LSP's uncleaned, and just brush off dried residue before the next use ?

    Thanks

If the foam texture is still good and not loaded up go for it. Avoid using excessively dirty pads as well. You will eventually have to wash them though.

Cleaning wax out of pads is a little harder than cleaning out polishes or compounds. I soak my waxed pads in warm water sudsed up with Dawn dishwashing liquid for an hour or two. Then I gently work the surface of the pads with my thumbs while continually compressing the pad under water. You will see the water cloud up as the wax is released from the pad.

Squeeze out all last traces of water and either air dry them for a day or two, or spin dry them in the washer. I stand my pads against the walls of the washer drum, pad surface facing the drum surface, and run only the spin cycle. The pads are nearly dry afterwards, but I also air dry overnight before putting them away.

If they are the new pads. Throw them in the washer. That is what I do with mine. No issues with residual wax.
