give me some ideas colin, what would be a good font to go after?
I'm not a creative person by any means, and I have to actually see it. I'm not one that can visualize what it would look like in my mind. I would want to see different fonts used with the actual logo. Just looking at fonts is one thing, but having them next to your logo will make a difference.
I would pick out several fonts you like and have your friend do up your logo with the different fonts. That way you can see what they will truly look like on your logo.
I know I'm not being much help. That's why I paid someone to do mine. I have zero creativity in me. I just know what I like when I see it.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
I like 3, too. I also like 2, but it looks more like it belongs with a custom cycle shop to me. Does the line that crosses the 'H' in 'Hall's' also represent the bottom portion of the truck? Or does it just appear that way by accident? The reason I ask is the font used for 'Hall's' doesn't match, go with, compliment, etc the fonts used for "Custom Detailing". I was thinking originally that the font used for your last name needed to be changed also. If the line that crosses the 'H' represents the bottom portion of the truck, it will involve a little more work changing the font in "Hall's", but is, of course, doable.
Is your friend using the fonts in Photoshop?
