  • Quick Pad Question

    Hey Guys

I am going to help detail a friends car and her paint is in relatively good condition.

I want to use the Lake Country Orange Pad with Swirl X and then use the White Polishing Pad with the Deep Crystal Polish. I just don’t want to go too aggressive on her paint. Does anyone know if the Orange pad is too aggressive? I don’t want to induce any further swirl marks or scratches. She will definitely freak out if that happens. If anyone could help…I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Re: Quick Pad Question

Without knowing anything at all about the paint you're planning on correcting (and simply knowing the year, make & model won't really confirm it one way or another), it sounds as though you might be going too aggressive overall.

The LC orange pad falls between our yellow W8207 Polishing Pad and our burgundy W7207 Cutting Pad (maybe even leaning closer to our cutting pad), so it's pretty aggressive. Further, the LC white pad is quite similar to our W8207 pad and we would normally recommend stepping down to our black W9207 finishing pad for application of a pure polish.

So, assuming you're using a D/A, we'd recommend this process instead, certainly for our initial test spot (which we know you are planning on doing first, right?):
    • ScratchX 2.0/W8207/Speed 5 (substitute LC white pad if lacking W8207)
    • DC Polish/W9207/Speed 3 (substitute LC black pad if lacking w9207)
    • Wax of choice/fresh W9207/Speed 3
