  • Best brush for large surfaces?

I detailed the car of a friend of mine. His mother is a smoker and so are other individuals in the vehicle.

It's a Kia Spectra '07. I found that the grim stuck on the plastic interior was too difficult to remove with just APC and a cloth. It came off MUCH better with a brush.

Unfortunately, due to time restraints, the closest brush I could snag was an Autozone wheel brush

It worked pretty nicely and made it much easier to "scrub" the surface. It seemed soft enough that it didn't scratch anything either. Unfortunately it is rather awkwardly shaped for the task at hand and there didn't seem to be a lot of bristles. It also still felt like it covered a "small" and "narrow" area, making the sides of doors difficult.

I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a better brush to use for scrubbing interior surfaces like plastic and vinyl?

I was considering the ADS leather brush for this

But it is intended for leather so I'm not sure how it would hold up being used with APC.

    Any recommendations or suggestions?

You can try a brush like this:

It is actually a toilet brush. You can find it at Wal-Mart by household cleaning supplies (it's next to the dish soap at my local Wal-Mart). Costs less than 3 dollars. Hope this helps!

Pretty much any stiff bristled brush will work on the hard non painted surfaces. As mentioned already, the house hold cleaning section of almost any store will have some brushes. You might also check the RV section of your local Walmart. You may be able to find some even bigger brushes there.

For what it's worth, I know you asked about larger brushes, but I have found that a toothbrush and a squirt of APC will do wonders for getting crud off a surface.

Has anyone found any scratches on anything yet? I want to make sure the brush isn't too abrasive.
