  • DC1 vs. #80 vs. SwirlX vs. ScratchX

    Hello,
In an effort to remove light scratches, I used DC#1 cleaner with a PC7424 on a W8702 pad. It removed most of the scratches after 4 applications in a test area. I am confident that I am using the correct technique based on Mike Phillips' DVD and a few online videos.
I would like to take a slightly rougher cut. Assuming all other variables are held constant, how do #80, SwirlX and ScratchX compare to the DC#1 paint cleaner? I see that #80 has a #4 cut rating and it serves as a polish as well.

It is a 5-year old paint job on a '68 Dodge, 2 coats color and 2 coats color/clear mixed, PPG acrylic (I think)
    Thanks!

If DC1 managed to remove most of the swirls after several applications, you'll love what M80 will do!

M80 is a good deal more aggressive than DC1, but that isn't really saying much since DC1 is incredibly mild. SwirlX is quite a bit more aggressive than M80, and ScratchX 2.0 is another small step up still.

Something tells us M80 is going to be a great choice on this car. The diminishing abrasives will do wonders for defect removal and as they break down to their finest form, coupled with the polishing oils, they should really make that red paint glow. Follow that with a coat of wax, either something like NXT Tech Wax 2.0 or Gold Class Carnauba Plus.

Thank you Michael! I'll give M80 a try. BTW, the DC1 removed the etched tree sap and water spots in the 1st or 2nd application.
