My car is a dust/pollen magnet.

My RX8 literally seems like it is positive charged to electrostatically attract dust and pollen. Literally. Before I even finish polishing after washing or waxing, it has a coating of dust, Two hours later, it is completely coated.

Doesn't matter what I use to "de-dust" whether I use a cloth or a california duster, wherever the cloth turns dirction, it leaves a splotch of dust.

Doesn't help that the car is black and magifies to coating.

I there a Meguiars product that resists and does not attract dust?

Right now I use the NXTline.

Depending on ambient conditions sometimes the mere act of wiping a towel over a surface will create a static charge. That tends to happen more with a completely dry towel such as when removing hazed wax. With a damp towel like when using a quick detail product, the static charge should be greatly diminished if not completely absent.

Hmm....I'll have to try spraying a little meguiars detailer on the cloth. Whatever microfiber cloths I use do seem "staticky". But even using terry cloth, dust seems to want to stick to the car like a magnet. I swear the car is the static charge!

its just in the air my man ... there really is nothing you can do.
and i do feel your pain .. .i waxed my black ride 2 weeks ago the friday before it all hit and my fresh wax is a serious pollen magnet.
oh well =), it will be gone in another few weeks and i too will get my sanity back

I completely feel your pain! After a long hard winter of minimal work on the car, this last weekend I worked on my car big time. I did it all from washing to cleaning to UC and polish to waxing. The very next day the pollen slammed us...the worst in years here (our record was 3200 grains of pollen/cubic meter, now it's 4000).

Today it rained but my car was in a parking garage so on the way home I only got sprinkled on a bit. It streaked the pollen on my hood and has dried into huge solid pollen balls. I've never seen this before and had to post it before I wash it.

I have a redfire metalic Mustang(well waxed) that seems to attract the polen as well.. Without hijacking your thread here...I've been using Mequiar's Quik Detailer with a clean microfiber cloth that I spray a little bit with detailer first. I can feel it glide on the car and i dont feel like im grinding into the paint. I mainly have been doing this withmore or less the top half of the car, so as not to scratchup the bottom half with road debris. I believe this is ok for short term in between car washes, which i have been doing twice weekly. It is a daily driver. Am I right or wrong, I'm not really sure.
