Which comes first?

tp://[/IMG]Need opinions. Do use ultimate compound or clay first? Want to try the coupound for fine scratchs and imperfections on my 1996 Ranger. Used clay and color x on it about year ago.

Yes, clay first, then your paint cleaners or cleaner/waxes.

just out of curiosity. Have you ever tried swirl-x, or scratch-x?
It is always preached around here, to use the least aggressive means possible. If you can try and do A test spot with the other products first. If you are doing the work by hand. It will probably take multiple passes to achieve the results you want.

Wash first (of course), then clay with a lubricant. THEN use your compound and try to get out what the clay wouldn't.

I just want to make a note out of this because some people can read fast and see the order is - Clay/Wash/Clay/UC/Wax- and this is wrong. Always wash is the first thing to do, removing all the contaminants that can be washed away and then working with a clean surface.
