  • Using Headlight Restoration Kit drill attachment with other products

I have been thinking about how efficiently this attachment found in the kit can be used and wondered what would happen if you were to use a heavier compound with it.

I have a cordless drill capable of 2000 RPM and was thinking of using the drill attachment and UC (or M01 or M04 or M105 as they are designed for rotary use) to make headlight restoration more efficient. I would follow up this step with Pastx for perfection of course.

Anyway, do you guys think it would work? I figured that it would work because they drill attachment is essentially a small rotary. Thanks in advance!

Keeping in mind, PlastX is a great product and very consumer friendly, we have heard of others using M105 with great succees for what you are talking about (on headlights and tailights of course)...just want to make sure nobody reads this and tries to work that on their paint

I was actually toying with the idea of doing this on paint but considering I have yet to experience a rotary, I will not venture that course.

I've used it with M105, it worked great.

As Mike Pennington states, we don't want to see people using this on paint, so you can stop toying with that idea right now!

But........ if you've got polished aftermarket exhaust tips on your car (Magnaflow on a certain Chrysler Crossfire comes to mind for some reason) then the pad primed with a little Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum Polish is fantastic for sprucing those babies up! Even the inside of these tips are polished and the pad just drops right in.

I have plastX, but did not get it with the headlight restoration kit. Is there anywhere that I ca buy the Megs Drill attachment by itself?

I have never seen it sold by itself. I think it only comes in the kit.

Tried some UC followed it with some Plastx and the results were night and day. I see that you mean now when you say that a rotary is very hard to master because you have to control the machine, not vise versa. Kicking my drill up to I think I was at about 1400 rpm (maybe I was even at somewhere near 2000; its a 0-2000 rpm drill and I increased the speed to about as fast as it could go) and I could feel the tool starting to dance a little. I do not want to even imagine practicing a rotary on my paint!
