  • PC 7424XP Kit question

As a newcomer to detailing and to this forum, I'm hoping to get your expert opinion on a purchase I'm giving thought to. From what I'm gathering on various sites, if I were to purchase a power unit as a newbie, the feeling out there is that the Porter Cable 7424XP would be a good choice. On an Auto Geek site, I'm looking at an offer they have on which is the PC unit plus some other products (pads etc) for $199.00 plus shipping which in this case (I'm in Canada) would be $31.50. The kit includes 2 free 5 1/2 inch Red Soft Wax pads, Dual action 5 1/2 inch backing plate, 2 Cobra White Microfiber Cloths, a 12 ounce Pinnacle XMT Polishing Foam Pad Cleaner, a 12 ounce Pinnacle XMT Polishing Foam Pad Conditioner, 1 Porter Cable wrench and counterweight plus pick 5 CCS Foam Pads 6 1/2 inch. In your opinion, would this be a good "starter kit" for a newcomer? I plan on using Meguiar's products such as Scratch X and NXT Wax.
Thanks for any input you can offer.

It sounds like a very nice starter kit, but since we're just a tiny bit partial to Meguiar's products (and our G110v2 buffer!) you might want to look at http://autogeek.net/meguiars-da-foam-pad-kit.html for just $10 more.
