Have a crossfire in bright silver. Wondered if a light color can get that great deep look. Would like to see some examples. Ron

Re: Can a light color look good?
My first car was a black Corolla, It was very nice and all, but well, I got another one, a newer one, it was silver instead, but man, I didn' t like it, it was a very dull silver. I wanted to die every time a black Corolla parked close to mine. Well, three months later I got a Civic.
Dad had a silver car, now he got a new one, same model, but black instead, and ow.. when properly waxed and cared it looks like a mirror, you can see the white clouds on the car' s paint, it is beautiful.
My point is, yes, as Tuck91 said, you can get your silver car a very glossy and wet look, but since light colors don' t share the same deep level of reflections of dark colors, so don' t expect to get that deep and mirrored effect.

Re: Can a light color look good?
In general, you will find that light color cars tend to get very glossy/reflective mirror-like shiny, and sealants like NXT2 bring that out to the maximum. Dark or Red cars tend to get more warmth/depth, and carnuba waxes tend to enhance that (especially with glaze after cleaners but before wax).
- but, you can certainly use NXT on dark or red cars and it works well, just it wont quite have the warmth/depth wet-look that glaze+carnuba can bring out
- and, you can certainly use carnuba on light cars and it works well, just it wont get as blindingly reflective as NXT2.
Many folks mix the two, using one as a base-coat and the "optimized" one as the top-coat. For example, NXT2 then DC2/#26 on black or red, or ColorX/GC/DC2/#26 then NXT2 on light cars.
- or you can reverse the above, although the above seems to be the slightly favored approach.
If you ask 10 folks, you will probably get 15 different opinions and recommendations.2010 XRS

Here is my wife's 2007 Trailblazer SS after paint correction last August. 8 hours in the garage, what fun!In this pic it had the first of two coats of NXT 2.0 on it.

Re: Can a light color look good?
As far as I know, this whole thing is like a TV.
What I mean is, white has no contrast, because it has no dark pigments, so it has less contrast than black.
What about silver? It is in the middle! You do have the same reflections on every paint, but silver is just like owning a old LCD TV, where you have no deep blacks, but shades of gray, and that makes the picture dull. Well, but what if you turn on the backlight of your old LCD TV all the way up? Now you have a very bright, shine, and impressive picture depending on the environment, but still no contrast, just the elusion of it.
Turn off the lights in the room and... wow! where is my black? It is gray! Ok, what I mean is that with silver cars you have the opposite, you get better reflections and mirror-like effect on darker places.
Whatever, what about a dark and very hot color, like red? you can see it from the distance! Whatever, I don' t know if the same theory applies but, well I used to go to art school and, colors, colors, colors! =P
