  • Ultimate Quik Wax

just bought a bottle of Ultimate Quik Wax and I am wondering what is the proper way to apply it.

Should I wash /dry the car first? Or would it be OK to just rinse / dry the car only?

I read from another thread that one can use UQW as a drying aid. What does this mean?

Using it as a drying aid would involve spraying the car down with the UQW while it still wet so that the car will dry faster. Perosnally, I would not dilute the product.

I would either QD, UQD or wash the car before applying UQW to ensure that no dirt is left.

There are several ways to apply UQW. You can spray it with an applicator and apply it to the surface and then wipe the car down afterwards to ensure that no excess remians. I just spray the area and wipe the product off. The curing time is very fast. UQW is a very versatile product and there are many ways to use it.

I have tried applying it to the entire car and then buffing it off and I have tried applying it, one panel at a time, and immediately buffing it off. I prefer the latter method. On the other hand, the former is the approved method: The secret to applying Ultimate Quik Wax.

I like doing one panel at a time. After I have washed and dried the vehicle.

UQW should be used on a clean surface - it is not a mist & wipe in the sense of a quick detailer that is designed to remove light dust and fingerprints. UQW should really be used after that dust has been removed from the surface, either through washing or the use of a quick detailer spray.

UQW also works great during the drying process, though, where you wash and rinse the car fully and then spray UQW onto a panel, dry it, and move on to the next panel. Will this dilute the product? Of course, how can it not? But it does make drying a bit easier, and it leaves a very slick and shiny finish.

Of course, one of the great things about UQW is that it doesn't stain trim, so overspray is never a concern. And it can be used on a warm surface. So, um, that's two great things about UQW!
