I was already a big fan of the Meguiar's product line. I've had great results using it on my '05 GMC Canyon. A day after I got it, I put on a coat of Gold Class and a week later applied a coat of NXT. This weekend, I washed it with some NXT wash and was impressed with both the ease of use and the results. I also used the Meguiar's Hot Shine High Gloss tire spray and again got excellent results. Here's two pics I took the next morning:
As impressed as I was with the results on my Canyon, I was even more impressed with Meguiars after I cleaned my girlfriend's 2002 Toyota Corolla. The car was washed on a regular basis and put in a garage about 75% of the time. However, it was waxed maybe twice in two and a half years. Although the paint looked okay, it was kind of dull and unimpressive.
With some advice I read on the forums here, I did a three step process:
1. Got car washed at a hand wash car wash place. They actually do a pretty good job.
2. Clayed the car. I couldn't find the Meguiar's version of the clay system so I used Clay Magic. It was my first experience using clay to clean a car but after seeing and feeling the results, it certainly won't be the last. The texture of the surface was extremely rough, almost like sandpaper. With a little bit of spray and some elbow grease, I was able to get a smooth as glass feel to the whole car.
3. Used Meguiar's Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner with an orbital buffer. Went an pretty easily and got rid of some swirl marks. Using an orbital buffer really made the job easy.
4. Applied NXT wax by hand. I've found that NXT is very easy to apply and remove at hand so I went about it that way instead of using the buffer. As with my Canyon, NXT was easy on and easy off. I waited about 20 mins before removing the wax by hand and here are the results:
We were both very happy with the results on our vehicles. Thanks Meguiars.
