  • Removing old bug guts?

hey guys, my 83 C10 show truck has some bugs on it from taking it to shows last summer and i never had a chance to get them off between last show and snow season.

whats the best way to remove old dried up bug guts off the front end and windshield of my truck. I dont want to clay as the paint is still perfect from last year i just want a safe way to remove them without removing any wax etc. Mainly the windshield.

I like drier sheets for this, like the fabric softener things. I have a black car and they dont seem to scratch my car. Just soak it in soapy solutions and scrub em away

Mark K had an awesome write up on here, and I hope he posts it for you. If you have any Body Solvent from the D-Line, or just a soapy rag/towel. Get it wet and lay in on the area needing cleaning, let it set for about 5-10 mins, and those suckers are gonna slide off nice and easy. If its not that bad, have you tried some QD?

Let the Body Solvent dwell for a long period of time, then follow up with some Last Touch at FS.

Nick how are you applying your body solvent? I just got some and was thinking of which ways to use it, I bought a few foam spray heads, but I was also thinking of putting it in my Gimour Foam gun i just got

Take the body solvent using a normal sprayer head (well chemical resistant) and then liberally spray it all over the bug gut areas. Let it sit for 10 minutes or so, then hit it up with your normal soapy wash mitt.

Make sure to re wax the area since it will remove the bug guts as well as the wax!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

            I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

I actually just use it in a standard Tolco white sprayer head, the ones at ADS. It has not clogged up the sprayer head at all in the 7-8 months I have been using it.

The way I have been actually using the product is by spraying it on all the lower panels and usually front end of the car, and as I clean the wheels, tires, and wheelwells it usually has dwelled on the surface long enough.

Then as I wash the car I use a seperate wash mitt to agitate the lower panels, front end, and wherever else I sprayed it.

I would try the fabric sheet route. I found that when wetting a sheet, it makes a soapy solution. Try it out in a inconspicuous area. Just remember to apply fresh wax when your done.

this is what I was looking for.

I posted this in another thread for a specific question, but here is a quick video that gives another option for safely removing dried bugs with a method I refer to as re-hydration. Enjoy! <object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie
