  • Wash differences.

Went to the pep boys today, and noticed several different meg's car wash products....
    • soft gel car wash
    • gold class car wash
    • NXT next generation car wash
    • uhh... and 1 or two others.

Whats the difference I read the descriptions, and the only difference I could tell is the pricing and NXT has polymers.

    Why So many different washes?

I forgot about the Soft Wash Gel, it sheets water rather than beading it to make drying easier. It was reformulated for more suds so it doesn't sheet quite as well but still does a very good job.

Gold Class has paint conditioners and does a good job of cleaning and sheeting rinse water. You can get a gallon of it at Target for $9.99.

NXT is my favorite, it has anti-static properties, and helps prevent water spotting. It does a good job of sheeting water. It also has the best smell of all the car washes.

My local auto parts stores, including PEP Boys, do not stock the NXT Car Wash.

While each car was is a premium quality product relative to your other options, (dish washing soap or lower quality products), each car wash is also formulated for different audiences.

Some people want a quality car wash, but don't want to spend a lot of money but want a car wash they can trust is formulated for their car's finish and other components. Others want the best conditioning, slickest wash available. Yet others want something in-between. Besides offering a number of different car washes, if you'll notice, they are also at different price points. The lowest price car wash is the best available in it's category, low price car washes. The highest price car wash is the best in it's category, premium car washes.

Something for everyone's requirements. Gold Class Car Wash and Shampoo is the top shelf, premium car wash that offers the best conditioning ingredients and the slickest washing features.

I see. There were several dollars difference beteewn products.

Spot free finish and easy is important.... so I picked up a bottle of NXT, and wax as well. As I put it away in the garage I noticed I already had a bottle of gold class. I will just try both and use what I like best.

I've tried a few different car washes, Gold Class has been my favorite for quite a long time. I have been using NXT wash lately and like it very much also. You can not go wrong with these great washes.

              Hi Mike,

Based on your clarifications on premium vs lower price car washes, it is quite hard to distinguish the categories based on price in this country. Deep Crystal Car wash actually costs more than 30% more that NXT car wash. It is through reading this thread that I went into Meguiar's Online to check out the price variances between the different car washes. Else, I would have thought that Deep Crystal would have been "more premium". 30% may not seem like a lot, but Meguiar's are extremely premiumly priced in this country. Deep Crystal car wash is the equivalent of USD13, whilst NXT is USD10.

Just a couple of (elementary) questions:

              1) What does conditioning in car washes do?
              2) I wash my car at least twice a week. Do not think this will be a determinant on the car wash I use (bad question huh??!)
