    Re: Car wash difference

Meguiars makes NXT Generation Car Wash, Ultimate Car Wash, Deep Crystal Car Wash, Gold Class Car wash, and probably a few others. When you say "Meguiar's Car Wash", which do you mean? Ultimate Car Wash is in the price range you mention. It contains waxes in addition to detergents. Does the TW contain these as well?

You really need to try both and decide for yourself if it's worth the difference in price.

I was talking about Gold Class.
Yes TW Zip Wax contains wax.
How different can a wash be ?

        Re: Car wash difference

Personally, I think there can be a big difference. Nothing scientific but I think I can really tell the difference in washes. To me it seems that Megs Gold Class is just a lot "slicker". Based on this I think it does a better job of trapping dirt and keeping it away from the paint when the vehicle is being washed. That is just my opinion though. But this is why I say that you really need to try both and decide for yourself.

            Re: Car wash difference

The Ultimate Wash and Wax is pretty nice stuff, just tried it out. And the smell is ridiculous....

However, I think that on a well maintained finish, Gold Class followed with Ultimate Quick Wax would be better, but of course it is 2 steps instead of 1.

                Re: Car wash difference

Amazon.com is selling Gold Class Car Wash and Turtle Wax ZipWax in the 64 ounce sizes for about 8.99, each eligible for free shipping, so they are probably roughly the same at retail depending on where you buy them and what sales you find. Target's regular price for Gold Class is about 8.40, but I picked some up on sale there the other day for 6.00 for 64 ounces.

I have never tried Zip Wax, but yes, I would pay a few dollars more to get Gold Class if it came to that. Again, it comes down to preferences and what you like. All shampoos aren't equal, so if I shopped around for price I might end up with something I wasn't as happy with. And I also trust the endorsement of many of the members here who like Gold Class in a recent poll

                  Re: Car wash difference

                  From reading the specs.
I see that the Ultimate has Carnuba wax in it.
So wouldn't that be the best ? Why do you say Gold Class would be the best ? What is the rediculous smell you mentioned on the Ultimate wax ?

                    Re: Car wash difference

Ulimate Wash and Wax has carnauba, yes. But to interpret that it's the "best" car wash is too hasty. Each product has its own target audience. For people who are short on time, Ultimate Wash and Wax is a time-saver. But for several of us who want to apply our own favorite wax, it's an over-kill.

                      Re: Car wash difference

The soap has a great citrus smell. My fiance actually wanted to help wash her car so she could keep smelling it....

Both seem to have a lot of lubrication.

If you have a good waxed surface, and plan to use a spray wax, like Ultimate Quick Wax, then I would find the Wash and Wax to be a waste. I think you would be better with Gold Class and the spray wax.

However, if you arent going to spray wax, or have a poorly maintained finish (my fiance's car) and a spray wax wont work, then the Wash and Wax is great. Of course you could still use Gold Class, but no protection would be added.

                        Re: Car wash difference

I think both Gold Class and the Ultimate wash and wax, Have a place in ones arsenal.

If your car is really dirty. I would go with the GC. Because of the lubricity. Lift that dirt away safely. If your vehicle is to dusty for a qd go with the UWW. Cleans and imho gives the wax a little boost. Just my thoughts.

What wouldn' t I do for gold class car wash!

I guess even being priced you should get, since people seems to trust and like it very much.

                            My car is new
I plan on using Meguiar's Liquid Wax.
I thought the Ultimate Wash would add some more wax protection between waxes.
                            What do you recommend ?
