  • interior carpet cleaning

How does one really get a good clean job done on ones interior carpets? Anyone else find that when you vacuum your carpets that after a while they start to shed and the fibers in the carpet look "loose", for lack of a better word, and dont maintain that tight look that is still on a section not in a high traffic area requiring constant cleaning. Ive tried different shop vaccum with different attachments to combat this with various levels of success, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thxs for your time.

Try shampooing them a couple times of year. That will help get rid of dirt trapped in the fibers. Carpet that is in high traffic areas is going to wear no matter what, but if the carpet is clean you can "fluff" it up a bit and it will look better.

You'd be surprised how much crud is trapped in carpet that looks clean.

Floormat should be your only area that have damage with high traffic, unless for some reason you place you foot in places the mats don't cover. If it is the carpet crushed underneath the mats you are talking about then it's very possible your vac just doesn't have enough lift to fluff the carpet back, also a good scrub with a carpet brush works wonders.

To clean your floor mats don't shampoo them, hose them down with a pressure washer, it will do the same job at about 10x the speed.

I remember on a Sebring we use to own. I must have went over the floor mats 5 times and I was still pulling out lots of dirt. The carpets looked great after 2 passes.

I then remembered a thread a couple of years ago about using your wash machine to clean them. I tried it. Ran a extra rinse cycle, out they came looking like new. Then it was a simple maintenance issue from then on.

Try to steam clean it or shampoo the carpet. I usually steam clean my carpet about 2 to 3 times a year. Specially after the winter seasons.

As J.A. mentioned you can always stick them in the washer and they come out pretty good or you can do it more like what I do.

I take them out and hit them with a little misting of APC+, just enough to get the product on there, than I scrub it in with a stiff bristled brush and finally extract it with hot water in a Little Green Machine.

The LGM doesnt have the best suction in the world so I make a few passes with it and then a final pass with my wet/dry vac. Usually they are dry than or you can just let them sit in the sun to dry.
