  • New Paint

I just got a car back from the body shop after having fairly extensive work done on the front end, which included totally repainting the hood.

My question is what can I safely do in terms of washing and waxing the newly painted areas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: New Paint

If it just came back from the body shop then I would not wax the car for 30 days to allow the paint to cure. This is what I was told when mine came back from the body shop. However, it is totally safe to wash the car.

Some paints you have to wait 30 60 or 90 days for the paint to outgas.

You can of course wash and also apply a pure polish if you like, but you don't want to apply any waxes or sealants that will seal the paint.

yes, washing is fine, but NO waxes or sealants for MINIMUM 30 days. If you want a light polish with some protection you can use M80 which is formulated for use on fresh paint however, it wont last a very long time like a wax or sealant.

Id recc. M80 Speed Glaze though.

            Re: New Paint

Just wash the paint. No waxing at all. Let the paint out gas.Paint has to breathe for a minimum of 30 days. I say the longer the better, Try to wait as long as possible before waxing. The closer you are to 90 days the better.

Thanks so much for the advice. Would the use of Last Touch be OK?
