  • What pad to use with M205 ?

What pad is the best to use with m205 for the final polishing step ?
I always use the yellow W8207 polishing pad with a very good hologramfree finish as endresult.

Someone on a forum over here in Belgium used the black W9207 finishing pad to refine and finish with hologramming as result.

It seems to me that the W9207 pad does not have enough cuttingpower to use with M205 ?

I always use this pad for applying wax or sealant.
Am i right to conclude that the W9207 simply is the wrong pad to refine-remove holograms in combination with M205 ?

Absolutely not! We have used the black W9207 Soft Buff 2.0 Finishing Pad on countless occasions to refine the finish, either to remove holograms from an earlier process or just to do some very fine finishing polish on an otherwise very nice surface.

But that doesn't mean you should always use the W9207 pad and avoid the W8207 with M205. The paint will make the final choice for you as some will respond better to one pad than the other. How you use the rotary buffer will play a huge roll as well; almost regardless of pad and liquid used, if you don't use the buffer correctly you can still get holograms; very high speed with fast sweeping motions over the paint while tilting the pad a lot will almost always inflict some level of hologramming. The pad, the liquid, the paint and especially the guy holding the buffer all have to come together to make a perfect finish.

No. You can't conclude on that!
I've used M205 with the W9207 Finishing Pad with any problems and without putting any kind of defects into the paint.

M205 can be used with both W9207 and W8207 pad without any problems, a specific situation will require one of both for that specific situation.

The technique plays a big roll on the final results you get. How you manage to operate the rotary also comes into play.

I should have added that the final polishing stage with m205 was done with a G220.
Does this make any difference ?

The orbital movement prevents holograms, that's a strength of the machine compared to a rotary.

Is it possible that the car already had these defects and they weren't fully removed?
