  • Micro fiber vs. 100% cotton towels

For drying after washing my Tuxedo Black Milan which is better to use.
If you say micro fiber, which are the best to use.
I read that some are made different than others from different countries.

I think a good fluffy cotton towel would be able to safely dry your vehicle, but microfiber may have a larger capacity to absorb fluids. I personally use a Carrand Fluffy drying towel and am able to get 1 vehicle dry with this single towel. I've used an "Absorber" type drying towel and it works but you have to wring it out every now and then and it sometimes leaves micro drops of water you have to dry up with a microfiber. Most people say that microfiber from korea is the best, and most high end places sell only microfiber from korea.

I like using the water magnets from Meguiars. They dry very well.

I agree Mr. Michaels, although mine have lost their absorbancy after a couple years. Seems to take at least 2 to dry a car and even then you'll still have some water in the cracks, etc.

Re: Micro fiber vs. 100% cotton towels

Micro fibre came about by combining two DuPont inventions: Polyester (a scrubbing fibre) and Polyamide (an absorbing fibre) this nylon hybrid is created during weaving to create microscopic loops, which form a network of tiny hooks, scrubbing away dirt and grime. The nature of this yarn is that it is an absorbent; the reason polyester appears to absorb liquids is the many thousands of micro fibres that collectively encapsulate lthem. The polyamide is used as the core of the hybrid fibre and the polyester is the outer layer.

Initally I used a good fluffy white towel to dry my black vehicle, and it left lots of white fluffy "bunnies" on the car. So I now use a good microfiber waffle weave which doesn't 'shed'.. Also heard/read somewhere that cotton can scratch.
If you run the hose gently over the car in a final rinse, most of it just sheets off, and there is very little left to pat dry.

I started using terry towels. They left lots of water behind each wipe and needed wringing. Switched to The Absorber and it worked much better but still needed wringing and left trails of water to go back over. Now I use waffle weave microfiber drying towels. I'm amazed that I can totally dry the car, never wring the towel even once and no water trails are left at the end of a wipe. It's magic....wonder where that water goes...

                Thanks for your help.
I will buy the Meguiar's Waffle weave.
