  • Leather Cleaning?

I have some faded leather seats with spots of discoloration and tried Meguiar's rich leather spray. This helped a bit, but the seats were still dirty looking and the spots on the seats were still visible.

Is this product just a protectant or is it a cleaner and conditioner as well?

I was thinking about getting some apc and using my steam cleaner on the seats as the photos I have seen show that it works very well. Should I get the regular apc or apc plus? What more does apc plus have?

It's both a cleaner and conditioner. But I think it cleans better then it conditions. Of the cleaners I've used, it's the strongest.

If you seats are worn and stained, there is not much that can be done. They can be made to look better, which you indicate happened. The type of leather also makes a difference, paint or unpainted.

Personally, I'd avoid using steam to clean the leather. You may want to try APC at 7:1 or 10:1 but I'd go over the leather a few times with the leather spray and then try a conditioner such as LeatherCPR.

Make sure you do a test spot first. In a inconspicuous area. It should help by cleaning the grime first.

Not sure what type of leather it is, but they aren't in too bad of shape. The texture is dirty and the rich leather cleaner isn't cleaning deep enough. What is the difference between apc and apc plus?

Just to make sure I'm doing this right:

          1) clean with apc

          2) condition with cpr

          3) protect with the rich leather spray

How long will the protectant last before I need to spray the seats again?

            1. I'd want some APC or APC+, whichever you have on hand, and use a terry and/or soft bristle brush, and work it in good.

            2. Yeah, it is good to folllow up with something to condition. I dont find the sprays to be the best cleaners. I would use the leather conditioner of your choice, either the CPR, or the Gold Class Lotion, etc.

            3. Then in a few weeks, just give a light spray and wipe with the Gold Class Spray.

The difference between APC, APC+ is the APC+ is low foaming.
