  • cleaner wax

I got a small bottle of cleaner wax with my meguiars clay bar kit I believe, but I never used it last time. I was wondering what is its use, and will I notice a difference with it? Last time my process was:

    ONR
    Clay Bar
    Opti-Seal
    NXT Tech Wax 2.0

Should I be replacing Opti-seal with cleaner wax? Should I sneak it in there between? Or should I only use cleaner wax OR NXT Tech, not Cleaner Wax AND NXT Tech? Any thoughts how I could refine my process would be great, thanks!

    Re: cleaner wax

Cleaner Wax was designed to clean your surface from light swirls, oxidation, and contamination. If you feel the need to remove swirls from your paint, I would suggest using Cleaner wax before you apply NXT. However, one product is not better than the other, they both have different purposes. Once your paint is cleaned (swirl free), continue to use the system that you have displayed above.

      Re: cleaner wax

Hey thanks for the help. Any special application for cleaner wax, or should I just apply it the exact same way as I do NXT? There really are no instructions on the bottle, and I have a feeling they were on the box, or a piece of paper that I threw out. I definately want to try it out next time I wax my car, as I have noticed some very light scratches or swirls in the paint.

Opti-seal is one of those products best used by itself or topped with a pure wax. Because of its solvent content, it has the ability to remove or "shift" a coat of wax if used as a topper. If used as a base, opti-seal needs at least 12-24 hrs to cure before you can top it so I hope you are not topping with nxt right after. Also Nxt has light cleaners in it so will probably remove the opti-seal.

I would use one or the other. Not both.

You can apply it with a foam applicator, working it in a bit more than the Nxt.

If you really have swirls or scratches to work on, I'd probably move onto somethign like SiwlrX, that will be a bit more 'made for the job'.
