  • Chevy alum. rims

I recently purchased a 2008 Chevy Tahoe. It has what the factory is calling polished alumin. rims. They are the stock chevy 20's. I looked at them they do NOT appear to be clear coated like the standard rims and appear to be truly aluminum rims. Does anyone have any experience with these rims and which product and application process for them i.e polishing ball on a drill.

If they are in good shape, you should be able to do good with a metal polish like Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum by hand with terry.

Wash with car soap and water, with dedicated wheel/tire wash tools such as a brush or mitt. You don't want to use the mitt on the paint and drag or embed brake dust in the paint! As for polishing them, use some Meguiar's Mag & Aluminum Polish on a terry or foam applicator pad. As long as you don't use harsh chemicals on them and keep them clean, they are generally pretty easy to care for.

thanks that sounds good, I'll pick up some meguiar's aluminum polish my next trip out. They are in good shape but dull, as they probably never have been polished.
