  • Ok, I just need to get this through, please help me.

Alright, correct me if I am wrong.

I want to know what producsts to use, to get that shine everybody is getting on here. (based on pictures)

    Car wash
    Clay bar
    Scratch X
    NXT wax

This is what i do, what do i need to do to improve and make a car really shine? (well i dont do the clay bar, because i havent bought it yet.)

Claying will help make the car more shiny as it removes all the "stuff" bonded to your paint -- DEF help with the clarity of your paint finish. You can also add in a pure polish after ScratchX, before applying NXT, to get some more depth. Just some suggestions.

If you want to do the entire car, something like SwirlX or Ultimate Compound might be a bit easier to accomplish that goal with. ScratchX is better suited for "spot" correction, IMO.

If you want a full detail, you could go with something like this:
      1. Wash- Gold Class or Ultimate Wash and Wax
      2. Clay- Quik Clay kit
      3. Clean- SwirlX or Ultimate Compound
      4. Polish (optional)- Deep Crystal Polish or M07 Show Car Glaze
      5. Wax- NXT 2.0 or Gold Class Carnauba Plus
      6. Maintain- Quik Detailer or Ultimate Quik Detailer

If you want a quicker detail, simply do in order, steps 1, 2 and for 3, 4 and 5, use an all-in-one such as ColorX or Cleaner Wax. Those two will clean, polish and protect (wax) in one application. Individual steps generally yield better results, but generally take much more time. It depends how much time you want to invest in the project.

The above products can all be used by hand and should be fairly easy to locate.

What polish do I use? Can you give me suggestions on the best polish? I assume there are different types

So do I use scratch X first then polish?

I have them listed right after that step: Deep Crystal or M07 Show Car Glaze
I have both and use both. Both work very well. Personal preference.

How bad are the defects you are trying to work on?

            What type of car/paint?

More info and pics can always help with advice.

If I was to do general work by hand, I would look at having SwirlX and Ultimate Compound on the shelf, and do test spots, see what product was needed, etc. Polish would be optional as mentioned, then follow up with wax.

Wolfgang Finishing Glaze is not a glaze if you define glaze as a non-abrasive polish and not intended as a filler. It is a finishing polish and somewhere between M205 and Menzerna PO85RD in terms of cut. The PO85RD would only likely be needed for perfection when M205 does not finish well enough.

Not that that wasn't a good suggestion, I don't quite think the OP will be able to take on that list.

There are other products besides M105 Ultra Cut Compound that remove swirls and scratches, such as SwirlX or Ultimate Compound.

Seems like everyone is always recommending starting with M105 on here and on other forums. You want to use the least aggressive method to get the job done. I would do test spots with SwirlX, M205, and Ultimate Compound if needed.

There is anything wrong with using a wax or paint sealant from Meguiars either.

I did these two vehicles by hand - you can take a look at them to maybe give you an idea of what you want to do: Ford Explorer and Ford Mustang.

I couldn't agree more. Many times I don't need something as aggressive as M105 and start with M205.

Another product I've found works well is Meguiar's Solo M86 Cut & Polish Cream. This is a simple, one liquid system for both compounding & polishing. Add your favorite sealant then wax and you've got yourself a shine with great protection.
