  • Sprayer Care / Maintenance

    Hello -

I have just received all of my supplies from my first Auto Detailing Solutions purchase! (The Professional Sampler Kit, among other things.)

How should I properly care for the Black Bull sprayers that I bought? Can I leave them in the bottles, or should I take them out and rinse them after each use? Maybe it depends on the product...

Looking forward to trying out all my new products once the RAIN stops!

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

I know some people keep a bottle of water in the garage, then when you're done with a sprayer, just put it in that bottle of water and spray it to clean any chemicals out, then pull the sprayer out of the bottle and spray it to get the water out, then put it back in your product bottle.

That sounds like a good solution, although cross-product contamination comes to mind... how much will this play a factor?

well i have a lot of the D-Line products and i actually dont have ANY chemical resistant sprayers..i use have SD, APC, APC+ all at 4:1 with regular sprayers and they have never failed..the only product that i have found to destroy sprayers is Wheel brightener at 4:1..it did destroy my sprayer..so now i just keep WB at 10:1 and it doesnt harm the sprayers at all..and its always better to not have such a strong solution on staying on your wheels. anyway thats my two cents

I just let my sprayers alone. They never come out of the bottle. So far knock on wood. No problems with them at all. It has been 2+ years.

My idea was to do that same. While browsing the forums the other day, I saw some people getting concerned about cleaning them. I got nervous because I didn't see it as a concern and thought I may have overlooked something. Good to know I wasn't crazy for assuming I could just leave them be.

            Thanks!

My APC one is starting to act up a bit, been 2-3 years in the bottle.

As already stated, Wheel Brightener is probably the only one that should be rinsed out after each use. Even the expensive sprayers that have 5 year warranties won't hold up to Wheel Brightener at a low dilution ratio. Everything else should be fine.

If you ordered good heavy duty sprayers then there probably isnt too much to worry about. My personal use bottles have all lasted for the past 5+ years, the only ones that Ive had to throw out are the ones that I accidentally ran over. In the shop we tend to go through them pretty quickly; replacing tops every couple of months, but that's using them 6 days a week and doing 20-30 cars a day.

I wouldn't worry about taking them out every time you work with the D line, because they very easy to clear out. As stated above already, if they start to act up, soak them over night in warm water and they will fix themselves.
