        Re: Weird Glass Problem

it's been while since i updated and just wanted to note i didn't get results with the steel wool. i have claybar'd it, windex, other glass cleaners, and everything in between. i'm beginning to wonder if it's a defect with the glass, it's just odd because it looks like faint bubbles almost.

You might need to bump it up to an actual glass polishing kit that uses cerium oxide. You might stop by a PPG glass shop and see what they say it is to be certain it is a contaminant on the glass.

what is a PPG shop and how can i find if there is one around here? the problem looks like a haze on the glass like orange peel on a newly painted car, but you can see through it just fine, you only notice the "problem" while looking through the glass at an angle. most problems i have seen that are the glass are usually different than this problem. at this point though i'm open to any suggestions.

              Re: Weird Glass Problem

PPG is pretty much the #1 glass company in the world. Their "certified" shops, or however they get to list PPG, are pretty much going to know just about everything about glass. Take a peek in the Yellow Pages under glass. Generally, the automotive places say so. You can just call around and ask if they are a PPG shop. Any decent shop should be able to tell you though.

Maybe it's just some sort of polarization or UV protectant stuff in the glass?

                I bought this: http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/glasskitpro.html

I've yet to test it yet though. I have _BAD_ windshield wiper scrapes I plan to tackle with it

i'm still wondering if it's rain-x that i'm seeing. it seems whenever there is water on the windshield i don't notice it must, but they could be due to other reasons as well. i know i read somewhere how to take rain-x off so maybe i'll look for that article and try that. i'm wondering if it would just be cheaper to buy a new windshield.

Rain-X causes smearing more than a haze.

alright well regardless of that, what would you use to remove it? it's worth a shot.
