  • Lots of question, meguiars products are on the way!

So from what I read, i was told that Gold class car wash was superb, and that NXT 2.0 worked wonders on black paint.

Now this is all going mostly on a Honda Motorcycle with is purely plastic.

    1.
Now my question is, I did dropped my bike a few months ago, and sun + few other things seem to have caused a few PAINT cracks, is there something I can use to take that off? So far I have used ScratchX and it got it to look better, but I can still see them.

    2. So everything I need to do is first wash with gold class, then wax it? Thats it?

    3. What product is used for plastic shine? I used this white liquid by "3D" and it works fine, but it just dont last more than 2 days. (I know this is a motorcycle and it gets wind at fast speeds, but still it should last longer than that right?

    4.
Whats the best polish for metals? I just see like 4 or 5 different types, my tires are aluminum, but if I plan on using it on my moms car, which is metal, should I just get all wheel cleaner?

    5.
Can I wax my electric guitar? its plastic.

    1. Cracks cant really be fixed. The best thing would be to work gently by hand, and make sure you use some polishing products to keep the paint from drying out, so it lasts as long as possible for you without flaking.

    2. There is always more to do... just depends how perfect you want it... If you want to keep it simple, you could look at something like:

    - Wash - Gold Class, 2 buckets ,quality towels, etc
    - Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
    - ColorX
    - Wax - Nxt 2.0

    3. You mean like the black textured plastic? Look at something like the Ultimate Protectant. If your plastic has been drying out at all, it is possible it may need two coats. I like to apply, let sit for 5 min, then come back to wipe off excess.

But there are some plastics that don't like dressings...

    4. Metal Polish and Wheel Cleaner are two different things.

The metal polish is meant to be used on bare metal, and the Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum is a good one. Terry cloth works well to apply them, or foam applicators.

The Wheel Cleaners are like sprays of stronger soap, and then you would use a brush to agitate, and wash off. If you are looking for the most versatile product, I would look at the Aluminum Wheel Wash (or Multi-Piece Wheel Wash). That can be used on painted wheels, or bare metal wheels, with no worries.

If the wheel is painted, or clear coated, you can use paint cleaners to further clean them, not a metal polish. So be sure you know what you are working on.

    5. Yes. You can clay and ColorX it as well...

Just an FYI, Meguiar's does make products for motorcycles as well. You can probably find them at Wal-Mart by motorcycle stuff.

The painted plastic you would wax to keep shiny.

The bare plastic you could use Ultimate Protectant on, though it isnt the glossiest product.

Maybe some pics would help, so we know what areas you are thinking about.
