  • Little green machine

I was thinking about picking up a little green machine to have around especially for when the winter is over to get some salt stains from the carpet of my cars. Is this a worth while tool to have in my collection or is it something that isn't used much? I may start doing family and friends cars once the weather breaks here. No matter how much water the car mat manufacture says they will hold your foot always finds the wrong spot

Is it just the straight LGM or is it the ProHeat model? The ProHeat model has gotten a lot of love but it also has it's fair share of scorn for it's suction not being strong enough to extract all the water out that it leaves, but that problem is fixed with a shop vac.

      Hey flakybear

I had one for quite awhile and it took alittle while to get use to and learn the right technique for using them. I droped it a few times and had to duck tape the hose end but I found it to be a real good investment.

Now for just around $100 you know it's not going to have the suction of the more pricey extractor's. It will get all the water and solution that you put on to the carpet you just have to go extremly slow and let the LGM do it's job. It does take forever to do a really nasty carpet but I have done it-have been alittle over an hour on a mini van carpet w/3 kids so you get the ideal.

And if you fill the machine with to much solution you will be left with that cleaning smell, not good. It just takes time to get used to it and know how to use it properly just like any other piece of machine!

I will be going and getting another #1425 with the pro heat (the only one to get) it states that you need to fill with hot or warm water but when I was mobile detailing I didn't carry nothing but a gal or two of distilled water and it got the water plenty hot.

There are some threads on here with the out come of using this little machine including one of mine.

I say it is get it! for the price it can't be beat. Like I said it just takes longer to use. But I don't know about you but I can't afford to go give $500 plus for a carpet extractors and this one does the job, takes longer but does the job!!

      Hope I've been some help

I prefer a 5hp vet/dry vac over the LGM. As noted, the suction power is higher, plus spending the cash on a vac makes you more versatile.

If you do go the route of the LGM, I would suggest only using it to draw up water. Don't use it as the application method as it is hard to aim and tends to spray quite heavily.

You're better off applying APC with a spray bottle so you only moisten the surfaces. The LGM tends to soak them.

Which ever route you go, don't forget to leave your windows crakced for a few hours after the work is done so the moisture has place to escape. I forgotonce and my wife's truck stunk horribly for a long time afterwards.

The road salt had gotten the carpet pile actually hard. I will soften it with some steam or spray it with hot water, wet vac then spray with quick out and follow the directions for it. Am I on the right track before I get an extractor?

I have the LGM and it works great. It doesnt have the heat option but it still does the job. Someday I'll get the pro heat one.

I have the lgm proheat model. i have had great success with it. i believe it would be worth your money.

I also should add this. A time or two, for heavily soiled carpets. I would use my rigid vac as a extra measure of extraction.

The lgm like anything does have its limits.

I have the regular lgm and it has turned out to be a very smart investment. It gets the job done well, and the suction is pretty good, although it is only a $100 machine. The proheat indeed has a little less suction, and if you want hot water just add it yourself. I would highly recommend you get the lgm for the salt, and any other stains you may find in your cars, or even around the house.
