  • What would you do to restore this exhaust? Pictures included.

    Hello again all
I hope that your expertiese can lead me in the right direction again. A friend of mine just purchased this exhaust system used, and would like to restore it as much as possible.
He will be working by hand.

What would he need to go about fixing this?
    Products, techniques etc.
Link to products would be outstanding as well if you could.

Thank you in advance, and I hope that all is well.

I would give it a good scrub down with Body Solvent, APC ,and soap and water first.

I was thinking along the lines of a good scrubbing with apc. Then go to the hot rims mag and aluminum polish. Let us know how it turns out.

Clean with degreaser and use 0000 Steel wool and whatever metal polish you have on hand. The 0000 steel wool will help to remove any burn/caked on dirt and grease but at the same time will not scratch the metal.

What would he use with the polish? Any special applicator or anything like that?

a peice of terry cloth towel works very well, but you can use the microfiber or foam applicator pads as well

I'd go terry cloth for the metal polish.

Is Mag and Aluminum Polish safe on stainless steel? That TRD exhaust is stainless.

If it was me I would just polish up the tips and any parts that are visible when installed on the car. Why waste time polishing the rest of it when its not visible and in two weeks its going to look like **** again. Been there done that.
