Lacquer or other?

I have a '66 Corvette painted Laguna Blue. The paint has checking on the back deck and hood. Can this be improved with any Meguiar products or is a repaint required? Also, how do I know if my paint is lacquer, acryic or urethane? The car used to be red but was painted over in Lagna Blue (correct color).

Probably acrylic laquer. Hard to be certain with a repaint. Only fix for checking is a repaint. If the Vette has three layers of paint I'd suggest stripping it down to the fiberglass and start over. Pricey and time consuming.
