  • Help me!!!

I have some swirl marks on my 2009 Dark Blue Acura MDX. I recently bought the Meguiar's G110v2 DA Buffer. I also picked up some Swirl X and Meguiar's M105 Ultra Cut Compound. I'm not sure how to even start to use either of these, especially the later. I don't know what pads to use or what to follow up with on the cut compound. Is the cut compound one of those substances that leaves the paint slightly diminished, and then needs to be buffed back to life. If you have any insight into this topic as well as swirl removal, please HELP!!!

    Hey mep

    Welcome to MOL!

You've come to the right place to learn how to do it right the first time and to learn the tips-techniques-tricks.

Going to give you a couple links to check out that will help you become better and know the how to's.

Here is something you need to purchase, it is 2 1/2 hours of detailing, mike phillips will show you how to apply products the right way by hand and using the DA and the use for each pad. Show's the correct way to apply polish and the correct way of removing the products. Thats a small sample of the things in this dvd. This is a most have if your serious about keeping your paint as best as it can be.

And here's another link that should be apart of your washing system!
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...owcargarage&hl

Also check out the site navigation for alot of how-to's and video's and the number's list of the many products that we use instead of the names, this things that I've listed for you will get you started in understanding this crazy obsession we all have on here.

And it's always best to start with the least aggressive products first and do test spots before we just jump in and start polishing because if you can remove swirls with a product like swirlX or scratchX doing 2 or 3 applications why would you what to use something that is more aggressive and also remove more paint then need be?

    Again welcome

        Re: Help me!!!

Is it true that you need to use the 205 after the 105 ultra cut compound? Does the cut compound leave a "fogged" look on the finish?

          Hey mep

Go get you a black test hood or panel from a junk yard or body shop and a body shop stand like this.

You can get one at harbor freight or order one from e-bay.

As far as leaving a fogged look, One rule START WITH THE LEAST AGGRESSIVE PRODUCT FIRST!!

You may never need such a aggressive cleaner, but I would go get a test hood/panel first and try out the products before you try them on your own vehicle.

Besides since you've never used the DA before I would stick to the swirlX or scratchX with a polishing pad first they are some really good products that can be more then enough to remove your swirls using the correct techniques. Get and watch the video I told you about and it will answer your questions better then reading about it.

          Hope that helped.
