  • What is ColourX capable of?

Just got a bottle and am trying it out tomorrow with a random orbital polisher.
What kind of results should I expect for light swirls and scratches and oxidation?

Some pictures of before and afters would be nice.

    Thanks!

On the bottle it says "Cleans, Polishes and Waxes, alll in one step!"
So would it be really necessary to wax the car with NTX 2.0 Tech Wax after?

Nope, but some folks apply do NXT after ColorX. I don't. But then, I wax my trucks frequently and sometimes I come back in a couple of weeks and apply a coat of NXT 2.0.

Just used it today on a faded 1997 Honda Civic that was faded and was amazed at the shine and depth it brought back to the paint.

^^^That picture is really miss leading. White balance is totally off between the two. Just look at the color of the wheels. ColorX is a very light AIO product. I will only remove very minor swirls and will restore some clarity to the paint.

Well, the after picture was taken later at night and in better light. ColorX is not a very light AIO either. I would consider A12 or M20 as lighter AIOs. It also depends on how you are applying it.

                    Hey Dan

ColorX has both chemical cleaners and diminishing abrasives that does remove light swirls, scratches and some paint defects. It's like anything else when comes down to asking how good does it compare to?

It can have different effects with different people on how they apply a product. Application on how it's being applied-hand/pc/rotary, How aggressive the pad is, What speed are you applying product with, And could call for a couple of applications.

Personally I've had great results claying, applying colorX (with the G100 and a polishing pad) And applying 2 coats of #26 (paste by hand)

And it got me out of a tuff situation once with a corvette that spends it's whole life in garage and everything else I tried smeared and the paint just would not corroborate and the last thing I tried was colorX and it came out great!! Thank God I was pulling my hair out.

                    Anyway hope I've helped

Just remembered that you stated that your using a orbital.

Go get you a foam bonnet to use because I have found that to do any good with a orbital you need a foam bonnet for the cleaning step. And it would be best to get a extra one or two. Also since being an orbital it is going to take twice as long to remove the swirls (as a pc would take)and do a good cleaning but it can be done. And I liked to use the terry bonnets for applying the polish and of course the microfiber bonnets for the wax application if using the liquid.

Question, Does this function as a paint cleaner to remove small imperfections and stuff?

I have meguiars polish, from what i've read it's not necessary to use it after I've used colorx?

                        Thanks

Re: What is ColourX capable of?

ColorX will act as a mild paint cleaner, polish, and wax all in one. So you would tend to want to just use another wax after it if you wanted.

A pure polish would work better after a paint cleaner, like SwirlX for instance.

As far as removing defects, again ColorX will be mild, I would look more at SwirlX/Ultimate Compound as needed for defects. ColorX will be able to remove more defects by machine, less by hand.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at Color-x results. I think it is a very good AIO.
