  • Smooth surface Clay+QD for windshield

Can I use smooth surface clay+QD for windshield cleaning? Or are there any other product(s) from Meg's for this purpose? If it is ok, can you tell me the steps? I just have my two hands to do this works

Please let me know since I found many water marks on my windshield that can't be removed by washing the windshield.

    Thank you

Same as for the paint. Wash it, dry it, spray with QD, apply clay, wipe dry, check results and repeat if needed.

Clay is certainly the first thing to try for water spots, and you will need to follow it up with a glass cleaner.

I save my old clay specifically for windows. Works really well and just like painted surfaces, you can feel a noticeable difference in smoothness after claying a window.

When I bought my new truck in Dec 09, I got more "stuff" off the windshield with clay, than the rest of the truck combined! This was after a 1200 mile train ride, then 120 miles on a carrier.
There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

                Thanks all,

I am still waiting for my smooth clay kit. 1st, I think it is a very expensive product, but as I realize that this product can do many things, I decided to order it. Now, after reading your postings, I can wait to use it for my windshield. (Meg's give us 2 clay bars in the kit, right? CMIIW)

You will be pleasantly surprised at how your glass looks after claying.

Yes. The kit should also have a full size bottle of QD, a good MF and a trial size bottle of cleaner wax.

Since the product is expensive, maximize your purchase by cutting each claybar into at least two pieces. I was able to cut mine into 3 pieces which was still an effective size for claying a full sized vehicle.

Breaking the bars up also helps lower the amount of clay lost to dropage. When I first started using clay, it took me a while to get the hang of doing it right with out dropping it when I was working on vertical surfaces. Now it's pretty rare for me to drop the bar, but I still break it up just in case.

When I strip my car down for paint I will have to remove, bar, polish, and retint every piece of glass. That and many other things.
Tinted OG glass with no tint lines. It will be that kind of car. The color will be a surprise.

Yeah, I break mine into at least 3 pieces, maybe 4....

break it into 2 or 3 even 4? Brilliant solution. I am afraid to drop it when doing the vertical surface.

Should I clean the surface first with bug and tar remover? I think it is better to get the tar out first before using the clay. But I think I would not use bug& tar for windshield (or can I?). What do you think?
