  • Headlight/Taillight polishing

I've seen a few guys mention headlight and/or taillight polishing as part of their services. What does this entail? Is it the same as like what the headlight restoration kit is for? Is it just a quick polish with PlastX?

Each case is a little different. If the clouding/hazing is mild, then a simple PlastX polishing will do the job.

If it's more severe, then the restoration could involve wet sanding the headlights and then polishing with PlastX to remove the sanding marks.

But, you wouldn't necessarily have to do anything on a brand new car with the Lexan-type projectors headlights.. just a usual wash? Do you put wax on them, too?

On the new cars I always give them a coat of wax. I am talking about the clear light covers.

I think if you wax the lenses when you wax the paint, you can cut down on hazing to some degree. However since some of the hazing is caused by debris hitting the lens, you can't eliminate it all together.
