  • Getting windshield really clean

I have a new car, and while the side and back windows are clean, the windshield is not. If you run your hand over it, you can feel the little bumps, and you can see it if you look from different ways.

It's on the outside of the car, feels like whatever was on the hood of the car, which I clayed and was fine. Can I clay a windshield? What is the best method for getting getting the stuff off and having nice clear windows all around?

You can indeed clay glass. Start with that to remove a lot of that crud and then clena it again with your favorite method and see where you end up.

After you clay the windshield, you can use that same piece on your wheels to get the excess crud off them as well. After using it on the wheels, it's best to throw it out so you're not grinding the crud into the paint.

May as well clay all the windows.

You'll need to clean the glass also after claying.... Nxt Glass cleaner is good and easy to find if you dont have it yet.

By all means clay your windows. You will be amazed at the difference.

I use older clay that I would normally throw away on my windshields. Its still clean and good, but I don't use clay more than once in the paint.

My husband is really going to think I've flipped when he sees me claying my windows. I've kinda been hiding how much "love" goes into the shine on my car. I guess he thinks it just happens (like the laundry and dishes).

I'm in the Donelson area and I have a gallon of the Megs Glass Cleaner if you need some glass cleaner. The glass cleaner concentrate makes 11 gallons of product and my gallon is untapped. Grab yourself a spray bottle and I'll fill it up.

Also, some people like Stoners glass cleaner ($4 at Wal-Mart). It works well, but smells bad IMO. Megs smells like grape Kool-Aid, if I recall correctly.

but claying the glass is absolutely your best bet followed by a window cleaner...cant get any crystal clear than that !

It may be taboo, but a razor blade (metal or plastic, the plastic one being safer) can also get quite a bit of film off.

Do you still use the instant detailer on the windows while claying?

Yes, you would use Quick Detailer to clay the windows, then follow up with a glass cleaner to remove residue.
