Hi ! Is there anything wrong combining these two products? Rain X being the one applied on the windshield + the one added to the windshield fluid itself?
Thanx for your input !
i just throw a gallon of distilled water in my tank...my washer jets spray fluid all the way up on to the roof, and ive had wax strip because of the 40% methol alcohol in the windshield washer fluid..so i have chosen to just use clean water, i have very hard water her in NJ so i use distilled..its only 99 cents at the supermarket, and it doesnt really streak at all for me..it just wipes very clean..and i dont have to worry about minerals in the water sitting on my clean roof. perhaps if someone wants more cleaning power, maybe you could try an ounce of M00 Hi-Tech Wash since its low sudsing ?
What I have heard of people using is 1:1 Last Touch detailer in their fluid resevoir; I can't comment on its effecitiveness, but it can be done.
I wouldn't recommend it. In my experience, I have used 1:1 LT to clay the windshield, and it left gloss and streaks. It will probably do the same with just wipers.
since you're using plain distilled water, what do you do in the winter to avoid freezing of the tank and nozzles?
i dont do anything....many people ask me this same question...did you know that even windshield washer fluid can freeze ? although there is some alcohol in it, it still freezes..all fluid freezes, its water that freezes at 32 degrees farenheight...alcohol can freeze to, its just need to be in an enviroment thats much colder than 32*. and since there is only a slight percentage of alcohol in windsheidl washer fluid, the rest is usually just water and other random ingrediants..it freezes at a temperature that some of us see in the places we live..one morning in NJ it was so cold that all the fluid froze..its really not a big deal..once you get your car warmed up, the heat in the engine bay thaws the fluid in the tank, regardless of what type of fluid it is.

That is correct - most if not all liquids freeze given the right environment. While water freezes at 32F, when mixed with the other ingredients in washer fluid or antifreeze, it will lower or raise the freezing and boiling temperatures depending on the chemical compound.
