  • products advice needed for Infiniti EX35

Hello, my first post here and I must say I am truly impressed with the forum and Meguiar's standing behind thier products in so friendly and informative way.

I read through the last week how-tos, watched videos and read many threads here which gave me inspiration to take greater care of my cars.

What I want to ask you is to share the best products for my 2008 infiniti ex35 which is 1 and half year old. The thing is this car has "revolutionary" self healing paint that according to infiniti can fix light scratches being under sun and heat effortlessly - here is a clip demonstrating that.

I realize 90% of that is a marketing BS, and what they say though is that this paint is softer than usual and abrasive/acid products can harm self-healing paint.

Having that in mind I also need to say that we rent a condo and I need to use coin washers and besides I do not have much time on hands because of our baby so I am looking for the quickest way to get good results and provide at least minimum care for my cars.

    I already got some stuff:
NXT Generation Car Wash (not sure yet how I will use it in a coin wash )
    Smooth Surface Clay Kit

NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 (18-Ounce Liquid)
    Ultimate Quick Detailer

Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray

    Hi Tech Applicator Pad
    Synthetic Drying Chamois
    Microfiber Towels
    Microfiber wash mitt

    Liquid Chrome Polish
    Glass Cleaner
    Wheel Cleaner

    now questions...

    1) Step 2 - is it safe to use clay bar on this paint?

    2) Step 2 - what would be safe paint cleaner? and the fastest to apply...and how often do I need to apply it?

    3) Step 3 - Polish...is it optional step to enhance the look? As I understand most of pure polish products are not abrasive hence safe for EX paint, right? which one is the least pain to apply and how much it would take? and how often?

    4) Also since I do not have much time, would you advise any products that cover several steps at once? like paint cleaner/polishing/wax? (I am aware of ColorX but I think since it is abrasive it is not an option for EX's paint)

    Thank you!

    Welcome to MOL boriskey!

Just so you know, new member needs to reach 30 posts before posting hyperlinks - so I swapped out your link for an embedded video.

    Thanks!

NXT Generation Car Wash (not sure yet how I will use it in a coin wash )
I live in an apt, so I understand the issues that come from trying to do a good job detailing when getting water and electricity to the car can be a tricky proposition.

Before discovering the joys of ONR http://www.autodetailingsolutions.ne...nr-gallon.html I would take a 5 gal bucket to the coin op when it was slow and would fill the bucket with using their water then add my Gold Class shampoo. From there, I would simply use their spary wand to pre soak and rinse the car. I usually put $5 or so in the machine so that the clock was running in case the manager got on me for bucket washing I could at least tell him the clock was running the same as if I were using his brushes and soap.

As for the paint, I'm not sure what to tell you other than anything acidic or abrasive can damage all types of paint. Most of the consumer line products should be ok for that finish. You might add a grit guard http://www.autodetailingsolutions.ne...uardblack.html to your bucket to help reduce the chance of crud scratching your paint while you work.
