  • Newbie Scratch Questions

I am pretty new to the scratch removing process. I have 4 or 5 scratches that I have tried buffing out using wax, scratchX, and a mild non-abrasive duragloss polish. That being said I know I haven't tried a very strong polish and I was wondering what to try next. I also have filled in a couple of deeper scratches using the dupli-color scratch kit. I was wondering with the lighter scratches if I should simply try adding some clear coat and then polishing? or should I try a stronger polish?

Is the scratches are light enough to remove with a polish then you won't be able to fill them with clear. Run you finger across these scratches. If it catches, you won't be able to polish them out as they are too deep. You can make them look less noticeable, though.

Scratch X 2.0 is a great product. You may need to go over the are 3 times in order to see improvement. It depends on how bad the scratches are. If that does not work you may want to try Ultimate Compound. It has a little more cut then Scratch X 2.0.

      rherring16,

I removed your second post on this topic as it is much better to use a single post. If you post the same question in more than one location you just end up splitting the answers and getting less help.

In the future, please just hang tight and let people answer the questions in your original post. Thanks!
