    Down to the metal

Yes, I need a wash and claying quite badly as you can see :O or it could be specs of dirt. been busy lately.

Best Course of action to help reduce how bad it looks? I got Swirlx, ScratchX, M105,M205,UC. For polishes DA with LC Orange and white pads.

So what might make this look the best?

some UC with some hand application or should I bring out the DA with White pad and Swirlx?

    Thanks

Nothing will fix that.... Time for a body/paint shop, or touch-up paint yourself.

If it is down to the metal the full width of the scratch, I dont even know if you could hide it....

^ yea, I know it might hide the appearance though, if not ill have to use some touch up, but they always come out so horrid.

After washing, drying, and inspecting the area, try a pass with a polish you have on hand. Try M105 with a foam pad and be gentle... inspect and see if it changes at all.

If the paint is totally gone, you really can't do much aside from fill it in with paint though.

ive never had anyone key my car however i have had a scratch deep enough that the paint was gone..just make the best you can of it, you will eventually get over it and it wont be so bad...do your best to fill it in with touch up paint and a tooth pick...then come back and wet sand the area and compound the sanding marks out..then repeat the process again...i got my deep scratch almost next to impossible to find !

That looks to deep to hide. You could try touch up paint till you get to a body shop. But it looks like that has to be repainted.

For Pete's sake!!! What is wrong with people that they can't respect someone else's property?!?!

I had someone a nice long scratch on the passenger side of my Oldsmobile that I firmly believe was due to a keying but I never could prove it. It was not nearly as deep as yours and I did hide most of it though.

I guess you could call your insurance company and make a report for the time being and then attempt to touch it up and smooth it out. If you don't like the results you can have it fixed then.

Also, did you make a police report? If you haven't you should. You never know if this person did this to a bunch of vehicles and got or will get caught. Then they can pay the restitution for their selfish decision.

I hope the ignorant jerk that did that gets what's coming to him/her!

That's about all you can do if not going to the body shop. Make sure the touch up paint is cured before you wet sand it or it will crack.

You could try a product with lots of fillers but the scratch looks wide and deep.

If you can catch the edge of the scratch with your fingernail there will be nothing you can do but touch up or go to a reputable body shop.

Actually the camera makes it look really bad, when I went to work this AM, it was not as bad as the pic shows, and I applied some NXT Tech wax with my finger, When I wiped it off, it filled in a bit and 2/3rds of it just look like a clear coat scratch now.

My car is wet no so when it drys off, ill retake the pic to show what I mean

Thanks for all the suggestions, yes I could of called the cops but I found this out like at 3am at my house and meh.. I asked where I work if they have cameras in the parking lot, but they dont.

I forgot to say any product with fillers like a wax or a glaze etc. will only be a temporary fix. It will come off each time you wash the car. But hey, it's cheaper than going to the body shop.

^ Yes, I fully understand that. I have done about 95% paint correction to my cars paint when I just got it lol, so I know about all the basics +

Here is the pic with only NXT Tech wax nothing else, I am quite pleased actually. Yes its a different picture, I almost got it in the exact position not bad :P

Do you guys think it will look better with some Polishing or would it let more light in the scratch giving it a brighter appearance then now?
