  • "Greasy" Look after Waxing

I have a 2003 burgundy Honda accord ("Redundo Red"). After waxing yesterday (NC weather 35 - 40 degrees), the car looks "greasy." I wiped and wiped ... I used ColorX. I have actually noticed this look before back when it was much warmer weather, so I'm just not sure why it looks this way nor what to do about it. Can someone help?

Have you done anything like claying before using the ColorX?

It is possible something else could be on your paint, making the wax harder to use.

Applying a wax too thick could also be a problem when removing.

Using a quick detailer like UQD, or applying a second coat of a regular wax like Nxt will usually help that kind of problem.

I did use the Quick Detailer to get off some water spots. Would that have caused the greasy look? What can I do to get rid of it?

i has actually meant using the Quick Detailer or coat of wax after the ColorX. Like try a Quick Detailer wipe down today, before the car is too dirty hopefully.

Could be something related with the temperature condition and that wax had not dried, maybe you removed the wax and it wasn't ready.

I would take a small section, kind of like a test spot, and apply in that section a coat of wax, very very thin, wait a couple of minutes or do the Swipe Test to see if it's ready to be removed.

After reading the comments, I don't think I let the wax dry thoroughly. And I probably put on too much. Thank you for your answers!
