  • what to use on a new car

I have a new car and was looking at using #21 Paint Sealant. Anyone have any advise. I was also looking at this stuff Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 . I have been using Griots stuff for years but they changed there wax and it is too hard to remove. I have never had great luck with Meguiars but thought I would give it a try again.
    Thanks

#21 is a great product. I have used it a number of times and have no complaints. NXT 2.0 and M26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax are also very good. What color is your car? Will it be sitting outside all the time, garaged some of the time, garaged all the time, or what? Answering these questions will help us give a better answer.

M21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0 would be my choice.

Its a modern blue pearl Jeep. It will be a daily driver and only in the garage at nights.
        Thanks for the insight.

If it were me, I would apply NXT 2.0 first, then top it with M26, that way you get the durability of NXT 2.0 and the warmth of M26. It's best to wait 12-24 hours between coats, but if that's not optimal, you can apply the second coat about an hour or so after the first coat. I have used this combo a couple of times and I really like it. I find that beading isn't really affected either, if that is a concern to you.

Just my two cents. Hope this helps!

Since you asked about M21, here are a couple vechiles I have applied to it as my LSP.

            Hope this helps.

As long as it is NXt 2.0, or #21 2.0, you'll be in good shape.

Though I would certainly clay and ColorX first.

Good wash, 2 buckets. Clay lots of lube. Color-x. then #21. #21 is a very good lsp.
                Enjoy your new Jeep.

Re: what to use on a new car

As others have said, absolutely clay first to get that smooth-as-glass finish (you dont need to use a cleaner on new paint). I like to then give a coat of M07 glaze (or DC2).

After this preparation, wax with #21 is great, slightly optimized for machine application while NXT-2.0 is almost identical but slightly optimzed for hand application. Like some others, I then top with #26 for the depth rather than a 2nd coat of NXT-2.0 (or #21), but the difference is mostly in the eye of the beholder.

The real key is that initial claybar prep of the surface, even on a "new" car. You will be amazed at the diference.

Once you are all done, not only post a picture or two, but also let us know YOUR opinions about what worked and/or didnt, and what you would do the same or differently. Always useful to get first impressions of folks just starting the cycle.

In the spring be sure to do a complete re-detail of wash +clay +cleaner +glaze +wax to re-prepare the finish and keep it looking just like it will after your initial prep+wax. Throughout the summer, a weekly wash+UQW and monthly re-wax should be lots (depending on your environment). For a very quick-and-easy complete touchup, ColorX is an All-In-One mild cleaner+glaze+wax, and is what I use on the wifes car ( ).
