  • headliner cleaning?

What is the best way to clean a headliner? Which product and brush if needed? Thanks
There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Do you have a stain up there? Know what is it?

The best thing is to do as little as possible. Then in general, if you have a stain, just spray APC on a terry cloth and start blotting. If the headliner starts to feel damp, stop, and let it dry before continuing.

no stain, just a general cleaning. I'm sure after awhile, dirt must accumulate to some degree.

APC+ mixed 10:1 sprayed onto a plush MF towels then lightly wipe the area....

Another option which I highly recommend is using a steam cleaner. Depending on the material and or how dirty it is, you could lightly mist APC+ on the fabric then come back with a steamer and clean......
I use a steamer like the one below.....

I wrap one of the triangular upholstery brushes with a MF towel and steam away. Follow up with a dry plush MF to dry cleaned headliner. Just becareful not to saturate headliner or it may stain or leave marks.

Well, one of those lint roller is good for general dust and fuzz.

Otherwise, if you want to do a little cleaning, just spray the APC on your cloth, and blot your way around it till you covered it all. You wont have to spend much time in any one area.

Headliners are fickle. You have to be careful not to get them to wet. Do the blotting technique and you should be fine.

As J A says, headliners are fickle, and are almost impossible to glue back properly once they pop loose. Unless there is a particular stain, or obvious dirt, I would not touch mine with anything wet.

                    On the other hand ...

I was doing a beater car that belonged to a relative. The interior was completely trashed and their request was to do whatever I could. Her headliner had black stains on each side from drivers window all the way back to the rear glass. My best guess was smoke residue. Looked like a freight trains smoke stack had driven by on each side! I had nothing to loose. Sprayed with APC (4:1) and attacked it with my circular leather seat brush attached to the Porter Cable. Dried with a microfiber. I was amazed at how nice it turned out.

I've had a can of Dr. Pepper explode in my Chevy Tahoe. A good professional carpet/upholstery cleaner should be able to get it clean. Lucky I work for one so it was an easy fix for me. Make sure they brush out the nap to make it look good.
