Just curious, where did you get this info? Are you in the automobile manufacturing industry, or is this just a theory of yours?

Uhh...I have actually detailed and inspected quite a few cars in my time. I just simply said that I have never, ever seen rail dust on a car in California. I never disputed that rail dust doesn't exist, just that I have never seen it in person.

I wasn't expecting you to write an essay

Like Mike said, let's please keep this thread on track. Tim's vast knowledge of detailing, detailing products and processes, and automotive finishes have made him a very valuable member to our online community, not to mention he was here at the beginning and helped make the forum what it is today. Tim Lingor aka. 2hotford, Super Moderator. (in case anyone forgot) LOL

Now let's get back to the problem at hand please. What is the best way to remove and eliminate these spots and keep them from coming back?

        Thanks guys,

I don't doubt the mans knowledge of detailing, but, I simply stated that I have never seen rail dust on an automobile?

According to Tim, because I have never seen rail dust, I don't know anything about detailing.

obviously you have not detailed very many as you would have come across this issue quite often.

Although I thought the spots may have been something other than rust/rail dust at first, after Tim expressed why he thought the way he did, I didn't have a problem with it. As a matter of fact, I believe him, and learned something new, as I did a little research on the matter.

The statement was a little bit harsh, and peeps are telling ME to calm down

Like I said, if the man is right, then he is right, and I respect that, and I'm not going to deny somebody when they're right, but the comment toward me was kinda redundant.

I live in Nor Cal, about 45 minutes north of San Francisco, and before that, I lived my whole life in Santa Cruz, CA, and I have never seen, or even heard of a single case of rail dust. I guess that means...according to Tim, I've never detailed a car before.

It's all good. In the short time that I've been on the forum, (since November) I've actually learned some new things. I've actually learned a lot in that short time. The things that I learn here, Autogeek, Autopia, Detailing world ect, can be put to valuable use when I do hands on work & help others with their projects.

          Thanks guys

Now back to our regularly schedualed program...

Seems like a chemical treatment, followed up with a claybar (aggressive grade clay) treatment is the best resolve
