It's hard to say exactly what that is???

    Have you tried detailing clay?

    Detailing clay is marvelous

Looks like tar to me but I can't really tell from the pics. What color is it, yellow, orange? Try some bug and tar remover or wd 40.

Re: what is on my paint!!!

A friend at work bought a new white Toyota Tundra. After a while it had the orange spots like yours does. The only thing we could think of is something emitted into the air from a nearby foundry. He always garaged it and the only time it was outside at work. They seemed to be like stains, not something on the paint.

Best of luck figuring it out.
It's only weird because it's not normal

            Hey,

That is not rust per se but rather the result of rail dust.

During transport of the vehicle from the factory, metal particles bond themselves on to/into the paint. On white or light colored vehicles, the spots often look like rust as the metal particles themselves begin to rust due to environmental conditions or from salt used on icy roads etc.

Clay the spots thoroughly to remove the rail dust. Follow with a strong cleaner like UC to remove any remaining discoloration and then seal with your wax of choice.

            I hope that helps!

What you have is called Rail Dust.

It happens to a lot of new vehicles but really shows up on white.

When vehicles are transported by Rail (Train) the metal track and the metal from the train wheels create metal dust. When the dust settles on the surface of a vehicle it bonds to it (bonded containment) the metal dust particle than rust and leaves you with the spots you have.

Most dealerships haves chemicals they treat this with but in most clay and a 50/50 mix of last touch and H20 (Thanks Andy)works great.

The vehicle may not be new. I have a feeling that the spots are something other than rail dust

It does not have to be new. In fact, the rail dust spots do not usually show up for a year or two. When they do, people will often remove the orange rust discoloration only to discover that the spots are back within a few months or after the winter. Until they are removed with either claying or a specialized acid wash, the spots will keep coming back.

wonder if rail dust ever penetrate the vehicle's steel or are in contact to allow body rust ?
