  • red truck with a lot of oxidation

i have been detialing my dads truck for the past 2 years and its seems that after about 2 months after i clean it the paint gets realy chalky. Every time that i do detail it with deep cyrstal paint cleaner, deep crystal polish, and nxt i go through about 5 buffing pads because they all turn red with paint. what would cause this.

    Hey accordtuner to Meguiar's Online!!

    Firstly, what year of truck?

Secondly, if the pads are turning red, the paint is Single Stage (i.e. non-clear coated). Therefore as the cleaner/polish removes the oxidation, paint is being pulled into the pads

Finally, red is a difficult color as it does seem to oxidize faster than anything else. The key is constant preventative maintenance. It should not be oxidizing that fast however. There could be something wrong with the paint.

Do you have some pictures of the truck you could post?

    Cheers!

the truck is a 93 ford f-150, sorry i don't have pics. I think the truck has been repainted because there is a slight difference in the color on the hood and on the cab. if it is only a ss paint job is there anyway to prevent the oxidation from happing sooner.

thank you for the help i'am 17 and just started doing detailing and need all the advice i can get!

Wow, I have the same problem with my dad's 92' F150 that is also red. If anybody has any suggestions that would be great.
