  • NXT Spray wax, Quick Detailer, Final Inspection?

Hi everyone, thanks for all the other post that have been a wealth of info, but I still would like a couple of clarifications.
I have a 1 mo. old Black Accord and already NXT it with superb results. My question is what is the main uses for the NXT SW, QD, and Final Inspection? What would you recommend as maintenance in removing the dust without scratching or creating blemishes on the paint. Do any of the above sprayers be used with a duster or cloth? I ask because reading these forums have gotten me hooked on detailing and on Meguiars.
    Thankyou!!

I also have this same exact question. I was debating what to get with the pro overspray claybar I bought so I wound up getting both Final Inspection and the Quick Detailer because they both seem kind of same, yet different. From what I have been told Quick Detailer(burgundy=consumer?) may have been upgraded a little but Final Inspection(tan=pro) still has better cleaning/shining mixture inside even though they both price out very similiar. I have no idea where the NXT spray fits in or how much better it works.

SINCE I HAVE A BLACK CAR THE DUST COMES ON AND I WAS WONDERING IF I USE QD THEN WIPE OFF IT WOULD PREVENT SCRATCHING OR CREATING SWIRLS.

I to own a black vehicle and I would say if your trying to remove dust a wash whenever possible is best because even a qd can cause micro abrations over time. some my disagree but for all the work you put into trying to keep black looking good why take the chance. that said I do use final detail as a clay lube or inbetween polishes and wax to assure I removed all of the previous step off the vehicle. and if I'm really in a hurry to look good I will use it for dust but only occasionally and if I don't have time to wash. also to compare the three between one another I would say the cold class and pro line are similar. final detail, to me, has a little more shine, but some people refuse to use it because it containes silicone (not body shop safe).
        hope this helps.

The Spray Booster Wax is exactly that, a refresher coat of wax; the other two are "quick detailers".

          The practical difference:

You use a qd on a clean (but not freshly washed) car to remove light dust and to touch the gloss back up. However, once the shine starts to fade a qd won't bring it back. A qd won't add anything lasting back to the shine, but will reveal the existing shine. I say "lasting", because some qds can make a car look really great for a day or two; Meguiar's Final Detail, in their detailer line, is one of those. Qds will not make your coat of wax last longer, though.

You use the spray wax on a freshly washed car to restore fading shine. The spray wax will add lasting gloss, and will extend the time between wax sessions.

There is an excellent article about how to use a quick detailer
          here.

As far as the difference between Quik Detailer and Final Inspection.... Y'know, I can't get away from QD. Every time I buy a Meg's Clay Bar, I get a bottle of it. I have probably 8 or 9 different quick detailers, all of which I think I like better than Quik Detailer. But, because I have so much Quik Detailer, I try to use it all up, so that I can get to "the good stuff"... so basically, QD all I use, because I have so much of it, and it works really well! It is the one quick detailer that seems to neither add anything to, nor subtract anything from, my previous work; consider it a "base line" that you can compare other products to. Although everyone says FI is a different formula, in my experience it is for all intents and purposes the same in action.

THANKS GUYS FOR YOUR INPUTS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAFEST WAY TO GO, ESPECIALLY WITH BLACK IS TO WASH AND WAX PERIODICALLY.

                ftboomer;
I have heard a lot of mixed review about the California Duster. Can I safely assume that you have had no problems on the paint?

Can anyone else shed some light with their experience with the California Duster, or just dusting whether with a duster or towel?

                Thanks

                  California Duster

I use the California Duster on my '96 Corvette. I have never had a problem with the paint. I keep my car in storage and only drive it once a month. The car looks like it just rolled off the show room floor. It only has 15,000 miles on it.

I use and like my CCD. It's best for dust and pollen that hasn't had a chance to sit too long. When it's new, let it sit out on a newspaper for a couple days to "dry". Then when you use it, you hold it up from the car so that only a little bit of it's weight is resting on the paint.

The CCD doesn't work from wiping the car, it works by static electricity; it's impregnated with paraffin, which builds up a static charge as you brush it over the car, causing dust and pollen to "jump" to the duster.

I've used a cali. duster too. I can't say anything bad except I didn't let mine dry out the frist time and got that wax it is coated with all over the windows , so if you get one, do as mosca says and let it dry frist. I just get to nevous about doing those things any more if I can help it. I know swirls will return in black no matter what I do, but if I can help it I try to limit things that might cause swirls...I say might, because I don't know if they really do help induce swirls other than in theory, but in my mind why take a chance.

No, there are plenty of people willing to help... I for one am willing to help but I can't be online 24 hours a day. So I hope you'll understand.

                        Now to your questions...

NXT Spray Wax - Adds gloss and protection in-between regular applications of Tech Wax. Restores a deep, dark reflective finish. This is a booster wax to help maintain the wax you have previously applied. It is not intended to be used in place of a regular coat of wax. It is also not intended to be used as a quick detailer for removing light dust build up. Before using NXT Spray Wax, the finish should be washed, or cleaned with a quick detailer.

Meguiar's Quik Detailer Quickly removes light dust, finger prints, bird droppings and other unwanted contaminants to restore a just detailed look. Quik Detailer is also an excellent lubricant for clay.

Final Inspection This is a quick detailer formulated for use in body shop environments. Can be used just like Quik Detailer.

What would you recommend as maintenance in removing the dust without scratching or creating blemishes on the paint.
You can use any of Meguiar’s quick detailers to remove light dust, smudges and fingerprints from your cars finish. You need to use your own judgment to decide if your car’s finish is dirty enough that it should be washed with the traditional water, hose, car wash, bucket and mitt. Common sense will tell you when your finish is so dirty that the use of a quick detailer could potentially instill scratches.

Do any of the above sprayers be used with a duster or cloth?
All Meguiar’s quick detailers can be used with either microfiber polishing cloths, or soft, clean 100% cotton terry cloth towels. Meguiar’s does not recommend using our quick detailers with dusting brushes.

I ask because reading these forums have gotten me hooked on detailing and on Meguiar’s.
