I use a shop vac also, but I found it rather difficult to work with the 2.5 inch hose that comes with most of the larger shop vacs. Also the hose usually tends to be a litttle on the short side. That is until I found this kit at HomeDepot. It's an 11 foot 1.5 inch hose with an adaptor that connects to the 2.5 inch hose. And it also comes with some accesories. Vacuuming is a whole lot easier now.

I guess direct links don't work for HomeDepot. You can goto www.homedepot.com and do a search for 374350, which is the item number.

      Ridgid 12-Gallon 5HP Wet/Dry Vac -- $29.97

      Which Shop Vac

My posted question when looking for a new shop vacuum: Vacuum purchase opinions

I ended up buying the RIDGID 4 Gallon Wet/Dry Vac - 5.0 HP at Home Depot. Wasn't the wall-mounted version when I bought it. Not missing much, just the rack for an extra $10.00.

Well I visited my local Home Depot today and was sure glad I did. Some of the vacs just seemed huge to me. I have decided I would like a rather small vac (4-6 gal?) with a good amount of power (5 hp?). Anybody have one like this? Also, any reason not to go with a smaller vac?

Ridgid makes one that is 4 gallons and 5 HP. Craftsman makes one that is also 4 gallons and 5 HP and it is on casters.

Anybody have experience with smaller ones such as these?

Well I thought I would let everyone know what I decided on. I have been very busy lately so I haven't been on the forums in a while.

            Anyways...

I ended up with a Rigid 12 Gallon 5.0 HP Shop-Vac. It is equipped with a blower port as well.

I also purchase some attachments as well as a converter to a smaller hose and 11 feet of additional hose. This gives me about 18 feet of hose to work with.

Seeing as the average temperature is 10 degrees Fahrenheit here, and I have no garage, I have not been able to use it on a car yet. However, we just installed a wood floor in our house so I tested out the vacuum on all the dust and debris.

This vaccum is amazing! It has tons of power and has been great for everything around the house.

I would highly recommend this or any other Rigid shop-vac to anyone here!

Now that you've chosen your vac here's an accessory I would recommend considering, a CleanStream filter.
