Clean/Shine "chrome like" plastic?

Hi, around the door windows there is a thin strip of chrome, I think it is some sort of plastic-but hard to be sure. When a car is new this is a nice shiny strip, but it tends to get a cloudy finish quickly. What are right types of products and approach to try to restore a shiny appearance? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

How bad are yours? Any chance of pics?

A cleaner/wax can be used for regular maintanence.

As far as fixing them, it kind of depends what is wrong, if fixing is even possible.
