Today I did a mates car but they needed it after 3 hours and I was just finishing up polishing it with show glaze. I had used UC with a DA and clayed it also. Is the car now in trouble as I didn't seal it with a wax etc? Should I tell her I need the car back?

Not waxing the car isn't the end of the world. It just means that the paint isn't as protected as it could be.
When washing a vehicle having a coat of wax does wonders (IMO) to reduce swirls, lessen time and effort, and makes drying easier as well.
Just make sure to get it waxed next time the car is washed.

Also, the polish will wash off in the weather. It is not durable like a wax.
You can just try for a wax, or a cleaner/wax the next time you get the chance.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

I will try to get the car back this weekend and fix it up. 3 hours was not definitely not enough time to pull of an external detail of a heavily oxidized car!
Will just a wash and wax do the job once I get the car?

LOL relax, I've only started waxing my '04 car AFTER I found out about detailing (sometime this year)
So, the car has NOT been waxed for 5 years, and its in great condition.
Don't worry about it and if he still wants you to detail his car just wax it next time.
