  • A couple questions

Hope this is in the right sub forum. If not, Mods, please feel free to move it.

OK, first question. I've been doing some looking online. I've been looking at Pinnacle Signature Series II wax, Pinnacle Souveran, and the Blackfire Wet Ice Over Fire combo. My question for those of you who have used these products, which one is best? Specifically in terms of application, removal, shine, depth, durability, etc. Any input would be appreciated.

Second, what is a good glass polishing system to remove swirls and embedded dirt and such from glass? I know Autogeek carries glass polishing systems, but I don't know what to get.

    Thanks for your help!

For a dark car, I believe your Cutlass is a dark grey, Pinnacle Souveran is hard to beat. It is really oily and incredibly easy to use, doesn't stain trim and wipes off like a dream. The applicator pad it comes with is of terrible quality but the Cobra indigo MF is really nice, kind of like an Ultimate Wipe. For black, red or dark grey Souveran is pretty top notch, they should even have a BOGO on autogeek on Souveran some time closer to Christmas.

Actually, its official color is Purple Pearl, but it is a dark color.

Have you tried claying the glass? Haven't done this myself but have heard many others doing it for junk removal.

Yep, I do that all the time. I just want something to polish the glass.

Mike Phillips has recommended M04 and a rotary for polishing windshields: Glass Polishing - Deep Cleaning. I understand that some have had good luck with M105 and Ultimate Compound.

                  Re: A couple questions

                  Well,

I actually use ScratchX 2.0 or M04 by hand on glass with really bad water spots. I have gotten excellent results with both of these products, not sure if ordering a glass polishing kit from AG will give you better results. I have never tried to remove swirls out of glass either.

                  As for the waxes,

I have tried Blackfire Midnight Sun Ivory Carnauba Paste Wax, which is one of the waxes in the Wet Ice over Fire Combo. I believe the other one is Blackfire Wet Diamond, which I have not tried.

I dont really play around with different waxes very often at all, so take my opinion for what it is worth. I usually just end up sealing my prep work in with M21 or M20 since I believe prep work is far more important than what wax you choose. For simple One Steps on daily drivers I tend to use M66.

Anyways, heres what Blackfire looks like on the hood of a Jeep Patriot. After washing, claying and polishing out the hood with M205, I applied it with the foam applicator pad that came with the kit
