  • M205 w/ pads question

What kind of a diff. would M205 make being applied via a polishing pad and then LSPd vs. M205 on a polishing pad, then M205 on a finishing pad then LSP.

Would there be a visible diff. or is M205 on a polishing pad then straight to LSP good enough.

You might get a more burnished look (noticible for about ... 1 day if it is your daily driver) if you do it with a finishing pad but for most intents and purposes you can go to LSP straight after a polishing pad + 205.

I tried it on my daily driver. Seemed to make the paint really wet and liquid looking.

nice tuck, thing is, im not going for a FULL correction right now, more of less just cutting some minor stuff out and minimizing swirl marks and going to LSP it. I didnt go after swirl removal or anything as i plan to do that all next spring.

So being im only 205ing should i still go finishing pad than LSP or go straight to LSP

You can go M205 on a polishing pad and then your choice of LSP on a finishing pad.

yeah i know...but will 205 on a finishing pad first do anything more for my finish or not since i didnt go for a full paint correction.

                Re: M205 w/ pads question

Well I'm outside right now with a finishing pad and 205. Next questions are as follows

                1. When I'm buffing away even with even pressure on the pad/machine and its flat on the surface it seems like the G110 is barely spinning the pad...even with light pressure. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

                2. Is the M21 syn. Sealant considered a wax or not. I plan to use that for my LSP but if its not considered an LSP should I top it with NXT and not worry about 2 thon coats of M21? Please enlighten me.

Sorry about misspelled words I'm outside on my blackberry

I do not agree with that at all. I guess I don't see the logic in it. Are you saying that using a finishing pad instead of a polishing pad somehow turns
M205 into a glaze that only lasts for a day? M205 is an abrasive polish. While M205 may hide some defects it's not any more likely to do so with a polishing pad than a finishing pad IME.

                    Re: M205 w/ pads question

                    1. Try priming the pad with M205 and using less per application if you are using a 7" pad. If that doesn't do the trick try smaller pads. 5.5" work well.

                    2. M21 is a wax. Think of it as the pro version of NXT. They are very similar.

Just out of curiosity. Do you have any PRC151?

                        Re: M205 w/ pads question

Here is a van I did with M105, M205 on the roof, hood and tailgate. PRC 151 on the sides and M21 as an LSP.

Though when I did my car I used mainly M205 and M21 as my LSP. As you can see the results were great. I did do some rotary work on the hood, well Frank, Shyneman did, but I think you will see the results of M205 on a polishing pad and M21 as an LSP are pretty phenominal!

Enjoy and let us know how you make out!

                          Nice work Andy

What did you dress the tires with on the van and on your Impala?

The tires on the van and my car are wearing Hyper dressing. Can't wait to see your results!
